Traveling. We're outside our normal daily routines. Flying from Anchorage, we went to bed in Alaska and woke up somewhere around Madison, Wisconsin. We landed in Chicago and drove to Alpena, Michigan, which I'm glad to say was uneventful. For those that are on a 'need to know basis' we drove 9 hours on 2 hours of sleep. There is a lot to say about caffeinated drinks and mind stimulating conversations to help pass time and stay awake. While we've been here, we've done some amazing ordinary things: eaten LOTS of fruit, salad, mowed a lawn, and drove a car more than 2 miles in a day. Yes, these are ordinary things to most people, but considering one apple in Galena costs around $1.50, one gains a perspective of appreciation when in Alpena that same price buys 3 or 4 apples. Welcome to our new blog. We are living in 'post building a house' times, so we've actually got time to begin another blog. Stay tuned. We'll try and make this site worth your time, at least to the people that find living in Alaska interesting...and I mean 'the real Alaska,' Bush Alaska!
